Last night I had the pleasure of going to see the new Narnia movie with a few close friends. I would strongly recommend this film to anyone reading. It was very, very good! Lots of actions interspersed with some amazing character development and deep spiritual truths that you would expect with a film based on a CS Lewis book. Personally, I found God speaking to me through this film. It has been a difficult week being stuck in the house ill and it was lovely to feel God reaching out to me after all of this.
One of the most memorable bits for me is something Aslan says at the end:-
Lucy asks Aslan if they'll see him again before they go back to their normal lives at the end to which Aslan replies that he is with them also in their world but he has a different name there.
Being a Christian, CS Lewis wrote the character of Aslan to represent God.
So many people are missing the presence of God in their lives today. No human being is better than another, we have all made our mistakes, had our triumphs and good times also. But how much easier would the hard times be if you knew the all powerful, omnipresent Lord God Almighty who calls Himself the 'Light of the World', 'The Holy of Holies' and 'Everlasting Father'?
Jeremiah 29:13 promises that those who seek the Father with all their hearts will find Him.
I'd like to share a well known poem to finish this blog post, Leona Lewis actually sung this poem on one of her albums.

I tried to get the words up on here but for some reason it wouldn't work so follow the link to see the poem. Apologies!
My pastor's message this morning at church was on the same thing! I would say it was a coincidence but I know it's a God thing :)
ReplyDeleteHe spoke of the names of Christ given in Isaiah 7:14/Matthew 1:22 and then the names given for Christ given in Isaiah 9:6...and how God's zeal and His heart is to make known to us those names as we discover and experience the character of God and are captivated by the love of Christ :)
Awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteI think God has the scariest name ever, when in the Bible LORD is written in capitals but in Hebrew it is YAHWEH. I tremble thinking about it!
It had to be scary to think that the Hebrew people wouldn't even utter name YAHWEH...I mean that has to be a name that evokes fear due to the power of that name. But I think it's so amazing the name God gave for us to use with Christ... Immanuel...God with us :)
ReplyDeleteAll I can say to that is Amen!
ReplyDeleteSeen as I can't talk to you on facebook until the 31st...how are you? :D
I've been pretty good :) This past week has definitely been challenging but it's also been a really great week. It was like last week was the week of Advent focused on peace and last week I had to come to God and receive the peace only He gives for different things going on. It's neat to look back at the week and see that. This week of Advent focuses on joy so that's my prayer for this week...to be filled with the joy only Christ brings :) But the weekend was good I a middle school girls' Bible Study/Christmas Party and then a bonfire with some friends which was very encouraging and great time of fellowship. I babysat yesterday and last night was the Christmas parade which was fun :) My dad drove the church's float so that was blessing for him to have the energy to do so! And church today was great and then this afternoon we had a Christmas music program which was also quite fabulous (though Chloe sat with me so I spend a lot of time entertaining her so she didn't cry or yell out in the middle of it - though if she did she reminds us of the first Christmas night - a baby crying :) ) And then I spend some time with my grandparents and aunt this evening which was fun!
ReplyDeleteHow are you??
That's really cool! I am glad you are doing well with stuff at the moment :)
ReplyDeleteSo I have never heard of any advent weeks before? What are all the weeks?
That's great for your Dad as well :D
So sweet :)
I am doing well thanks! Still a little drained but doing much better and very relieved about it :) Was able to go out with friends for an engagement party & a birthday party (that the birthday boy couldn't make because of illness so we got a cutout of his face on a stick and got him in all the photos!) and we watched Narnia of course, which was amazing :) Had a good first day back at work today too :)
Thanks for asking CM!
The season of Advent is part of the church calendar. Advent begins four Sundays prior to Christmas and each Sunday you light one of the candles on the Advent wreath. Each candle/week emphasizes a different characteristic of the Christmas message. The first week is hope, the second is peace, the third is joy, and the fourth is love. So this week is joy :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear of great happenings going on :) Especially glad to hear you're feeling much better and had a great first day back!! I bet those photos are hilarious haha
No prob MW :)
Great post, however, Aslan represents Christ not God, wouldn't normally point this out but if you consider the fact that Aslan had to willingly sacrifice himself in the first film to bring others back to life, it does become glaringly obvious.
ReplyDeleteI was aware of that and toyed over going just with Christ but Aslan comes over to me very much like God the Father and considering that God the Father & God the Son are one..I just went with God.
