John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
So Jesus is saying that He (God) gives differently to how the world gives. This is interesting as it is the Christmas season, the time where we all give to each other.
I was thinking, how does God give differently?
This is what I came up with, if you have any to add or debate go for it on the comments section!
1) God gives graciously
Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
We give gifts to people we think worthy of gifts. We give gifts to those who give us gifts in return. We are totally unworthy of the gift of Salvation given to us & we can never give God anything in return good enough.
2) God made a sacrifice
We give things out of our wealth. We give things we can afford to give or things that we wouldn't want ourselves. God gave His Son, one of His most precious things. He made a huge sacrifice.
3) God gives us what we need
We are sinner, we really needed Salvation otherwise we would never get to Heaven. God's Gift gets right to the point!
God goes to extraordinary lengths to give to us His most precious gift :)
ReplyDeleteBut as with any gift we have to willing accept His most wonderful gift...He gives, He doesn't force!
I love what you've wrote here! I would add some too though if you don't mind! I would add:
ReplyDeleteGod gives abundantly: There are no limits on how much we can recieve from God, gifts never expire and it doesn't matter how many times we mess up when we come back God still has buckets of love and gifts for us.
God gives indiscriminatly: To anyone who asks, they shall recieve, literally to ANYONE.
I also believe that whe God gives to us there is an expectation that we will use that gift for God's glory and kingdom. With all the gifts God has given me I know that I am to use them wisely, freely and generously. I can't remember the verse exactly but I always keep in my heart the knowledge that 'to whom much is given, much will be expected.'
Great topic and food for thought. Thanks Mike!

Both of your posts are perfect additions to the post!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking that I missed abundant giving so I am glad you brought that one up Laura :)
