When asked about the secret of his spiritual success, founder William Booth stated 'The secret of my success is that God has all there was of William Booth'.
Don't we just try and keep things from God? Our money, our time and our decisions in areas such as relationships are often things that are sealed off from Him.
The things is, don't we trust Him? Or is it we are scared God will take us in directions we are scared to go in? I think it is the latter in most cases..well it is in mine.
I think this verse is fast becoming the verse of 2011 for me -
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
God isn't a supernatural party pooper, He wants the BEST for us and sometimes the best means we have to give up things that might be important to us.
So how much of us is He going to get? I'm fed up of sitting on the fence in areas of my life, it's time to go all or nothing and I'm going ALL.
I have spent the day walking with a very wise lady. She was telling me about a friend of hers that used to live in a glass jar (not literally!). You could see he and you could hear but you could never actually get at her. From patience and love and friendship she was rescued from her lonliness and the glass jar cracked apart. She was open, she was now completely vunerable to the world and all the bad things that can happen. Yet now, without the jar around her, she was open to being embraced.
